Production

The aims of the training are to enable the apprentice to
  • plan, perform, document and evaluate work
  • perform bricklaying using different bonds (brickwork patterns) and covers
  • select suitable materials for different types of work
  • create walls using different kinds of block products
  • insulate, drain and anchor masonry work
  • perform tile-laying of walls and floors
  • perform work in sanitary rooms and apply fluid membranes
  • perform slating and natural stonework using different kinds of fastening devices and substances
  • plaster and surface treat different substrate
  • wall up and erect chimneys and fireplaces
  • rehabilitate different kinds of brickwork
  • set out heights and angles with help from relevant measuring tools
  • select, use and maintain machines and equipment
  • receive and store materials and equipment with a view to economy and environment
  • use suitable protective equipment
  • mount, dismantle and modify scaffolding
  • use a quality assurance system and pre-accepted solutions for documentation of work
  • work according to drawings and descriptions
  • comply with current legislation for environment, health and safety
  • perform work in line with ergonomic principles
  • perform source separation and handle waste based on current rules and regulations
  • follow requirements for the trade work ethics
  • use digital tools for geometric calculations, drawing and documentation

Trade studies

The aims of the training are to enable the apprentice to
  • give an account of the subject's historic development, cultural values and place in society
  • give an account of content in relevant national and international legislation applicable to client rights and obligations, including rules about the right of appeal
  • act professionally when dealing with clients and customers
  • discuss and elaborate on the significance of interaction at the workplace
  • give an account of the different kinds of materials and their areas of application
  • draw sketches and make simple constructional drawings
  • uphold aesthetics requirements
  • give an account of current regulations for handling waste
