The Norwegian Education Mirror 2022

As a consequence of the outbreak of Coronavirus, municipalities, county municipalities and private schools have been allocated significant funds to handle the challenges related to the forced closure of kindergartens and schools. There are 9 grant schemes related to the Coronavirus pandemic. These funds are used, among other things, for the purchase of digital learning tools and to prevent pupils from falling being and losing progress at school. In total, NOK 1.2 billion was allocated through these schemes (The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training 2022b).

94 per cent of the subsidy funds went to municipalities and county municipalities, equivalent to around NOK 1.13 billion. 6 per cent of the funds, just over NOK 72 million, went to independent schools.
